The Ancient Japanese Beauty Oil

This ancient Japanese beauty oil has been used for centuries. It’s a beauty secret passed down through the generations in Japan.

If you know anything about the geishas, you’ve probably heard of this oil.

Of course, I’m talking about camellia oil.

Anyone who knows me well knows I’m obsessed with oils for beauty and skincare. For instance, this is only my fourth post and I’ve already written about another favourite oil

I have quite a few favourites, however, camellia oil is an absolute essential.

Most nights I do a relaxing facial massage with camellia oil. Whether I have three minutes or half an hour, daily facial massage makes my skin glow and relaxes my mind and body before bed.

It releases tension in my face which sometimes builds up if it’s been a stressful day.

It’s safe to say, I find a lot of joy in this daily ritual.

But First… A History of Japanese Massage

The Japanese have used massage as a holistic health practice for thousands of years.

And it all began when a group of Japanese students visited China in the 7th century AD.

They visited to learn about their medicinal and wellness practices. Massage is one of the practices they brought back.

Japanese massage has evolved and grown into the various types of Japanese massage we know today, including amna (traditional Japanese massage), shiatsu, reiki, and watsu.

So, keep reading to find out the many camellia oil beauty benefits I love.
